This short chapter book is the second in a series of 4 featuring the pain (six-year-old Jake) and the great one (his nine-year-old sister Abigail). Preceded by a picture book, this chapter book sequel features six short stories addressing relatable and comedic growing pains such as losing teeth, dealing with bullying and attachment to stuffed toys. Each vignette is told from the perspective of either Jake or Abigail, with loose, grey washed line illustrations depicting the narrator at the start of each chapter. Bubbly and outrageous, ‘Cool zone with the pain and the great one’ depicts the highs, lows, hijinks and unending loyalty of a sibling relationship.
